1. The Government of the Republic of Kenya (GoK) has applied for financing from the African Development Fund (ADF) towards the cost of the Kenya – Tanzania Power Interconnection Project.  It is intended that part of the proceeds of this financing will be applied to eligible payments under the contracts for Plant Design, Supply, Construction, Installation and Commissioning of Lot K2: Rural Electrification along the 400kV Kenya-Tanzania Power  Interconnection Project (KTPIP)

 

2. The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) hereinafter referred to as the “Employer,” invites sealed bids from the qualified firms for the execution of the following works under this project: Electrification along the 400kV Kenya-Tanzania Power Interconnection Project (KTPIP).

 

The major works to be carried out by the Contractor shall comprise of but not be limited to the following:

 

●Electrification of villages along the 400kV Kenya-Tanzania Interconnection Project. This part of the project consists of design, manufacture, test, supply, erection and commissioning of 33kV, 3 phase lines with different equipment such as re-closers, fuse cutout and distribution transformers etc.  

●Lot K2 has approximately 132km of 33 kV lines and about 50km of 400V to be constructed.

●Also included are about 6 transformers of 25kVA, 14 transformers of 50kVA and 5 transformers of 100kVA to be installed and services lines and meters to about 7,000 customers.

 

International Competitive Bidding (ICB) method with “Single Stage” Bidding Procedures will be followed in accordance with the Bank's Rules and Procedures for Procurement of Goods and Works.

The Bidding Documents will be posted on the KETRACO website for ease of inspection in addition to the physical visits paid to the offices issuing the Bidding Documents.

 

4. A complete set of Bidding Documents may be purchased by interested bidders upon submission of a written application to KETRACO as indicated under paragraph 3 and upon payment of a non-refundable fee Ksh.1,000 or equivalent in any freely convertible currency (ies). The method of payment will be direct payment in cash at the Addresses above. KETRACO will make arrangements for electronic receipt of payments. The Banking details will be posted on the website (www.ketraco.co.ke).

5. The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document for Procurement of Plant Design, Supply, and Installation. Single Stage Bidding (without prequalification).

 

6. Bids must be delivered to the above office at or before 10:00 a.m. East Africa Local Time on 18th May 2017and must be accompanied by a security amount indicated in paragraph 1 above.

 

7.         Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend from 10.30 a.m. on18th May 2017, at the following address;
